A Bit About You
You have high standards for others, and even higher standards for yourself. Being a perfectionist used to be helpful, but now you are tired of being frustrated and never feeling good enough.
You recently went through a major life transition and now you feel overwhelmed, lonely, disconnected or pressured to make things work or be the best. Sometimes you resent this change and worry that you will never feel settled in.
You have perfected the art of seeming like you have it all together, but on the inside it feels like things are falling apart. You are dealing with high amounts of stress, your worry keeps you up a night, and you have difficulties saying nice things to yourself.
You have big dreams and life goals, but somehow you can't quite keep up with day-to-day demands. Outside influences and pressures are bringing you down, you find yourself procrastinating on important tasks, and avoidance has become your number one coping mechanism.
You have thought about therapy, but you hesitate to take that step. You know that you need to do something different, but you worry that therapy is too drastic.
If you are feeling increasingly stressed, anxious, burned out or immobilized by perfectionism, you have come the the right place. I'm glad you're here!
Coming to therapy does not mean you are crazy, that there is something drastically wrong with you, or that you need to be fixed. Coming to therapy is taking care of yourself, finding security in who you are, and working through the challenges that are holding you back. Therapy might just be exactly what you need.
Finding the right therapist is time consuming and daunting. You spend loads of time searching profiles, reading about therapeutic approaches and wondering if, or when, you should reach out. Take a look around and if you like what you see, get in touch. I'd love to help you get started!
Let's Determine if I'm the Right Therapist for You
You've googled and shifted through countless profiles, and you haven't quite found the right therapist. The process of searching for, and finding, the right therapist can be enough to make someone feel overwhelmed and like they want to quit before they've even begun. I get it.
Each therapist is different, and it's important for you to feel like you have have found the right one for you. So, let's determine if I'm the right therapist for you...
I keep it real and my clients appreciate my straightforward approach. I am an active participant in your therapy and I will not tip-toe around your challenges. Your time is valuable and I want you to get the most out of your therapeutic journey.
The clients who are the most successful in therapy with me are the ones who come ready to work, are invested in the therapeutic process, and understand that I'm not going to wave my therapy wand and make all of their problems magically disappear. Therapy is a process and it takes time, hard work and investment to experience change and healing.
The ones who experience the best results come ready to dive in and figure out what's been keeping them stuck. They show up to every appointment and they work hard. These clients are committed to their own growth and are ready to give up old habits that are not serving them well. They know it's time to do something different and they are ready to make changes.
I will be with you throughout the entire journey, and I am committed to holding a space for you as we process and problem-solve your unique challenges.
Okay, and a Bit About Me
Samantha Praus, MSE, LPCC
Yes, I have a fancy degree from an accredited college. I even went through several painstaking years of supervision and work experience to gain my professional title - you can read about my credentials and experience below. What is most important for you to know is that I will do everything in my power to support and encourage you in a way that works best for your growth and healing process.
In my free time, I enjoy walks around the lakes with my elderly dog, reading a great belly-laugh book, a strong cup of coffee, exploring the wonders of the world, knitting scarfs, artsy projects, and many delicious bars of chocolate and pints of ice cream.
Regardless of who you are, where you are from, or where you happen to be on your journey, you are welcome here.
